Bahar Dunn is the owner of Central Mississippi Therapy Solutions and is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT). She is licensed in both the State of Mississippi and the State of New York and is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Bahar has worked with individuals, couples, and families for over 12 years. Bahar has always had a deep fascination in relationships and how people relate to themselves, to others, and with the world. She believes that people have their best selves already within them, but has found that oftentimes people greatly benefit from having someone to walk with them on the path to removing all of the troubles that life piles on us to then be able to find and nurture their true selves. Her pursuit toward this field began after witnessing and being a part of her own family struggles surrounding relationship issues, dysfunction, addiction, depression, and anxiety.

Bahar learned that people are strengthened by connection to other people, even if someone (she includes herself here!) is more introverted than extroverted, and that not having that connection makes the world a much tougher place to live in. These experiences led Bahar to truly practice in her own life what she helps others to discover and implement into their lives. She applies what she learned over the years through her education, training, and years of clinical experience into her own relationships with her husband, family, and friends, and has seen those strategies work first-hand.

Bahar is invested in sharing her passion to help others who struggle in relationships with themselves (which often manifests as depression or anxiety), with their significant other, with their family, and with others to live their best lives. Often, people overlook or neglect the relationship that they have with themselves, but Bahar is a firm believer in improving and strengthening the relationship with self before other areas of life can experience effective and lasting change. She has found that this is the key to making the bad times seem bearable, and the good times seem extraordinary.

When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better, too.
— Paulo Coelho

In addition to academic and real-life experience, Bahar brings non-judgmental understanding and compassion to her therapy sessions. She is genuine and honest, as well as someone who isn't afraid to get to the heart of the matter with you. Bahar offers clients a gentle, but direct approach, and occasionally throws in a little humor. Several of her clients say that she feels like family. Bahar is invested in her work and is ready and willing to go the extra mile to support you as you dive in together to do some tough and sometimes uncomfortable, but meaningful work.

Bahar lives with her husband, daughter, and their adorable, yet stubborn, Shih Tzu. She enjoys reading a good book while snuggling with a hot cup of tea, going on cinematic adventures, and chocolate cake.

EDUCATION

Bahar attended the University of Mississippi and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.

She then went on to earn her Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Valdosta State University, where she graduated at the top of her class.

Bahar completed additional training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), in efforts to better help her clients who have experienced various traumas to process these events in a much faster and often less painful way than many traditional therapies offer.
